Inspiration Soup

As a man was driving around a dangerous hairpin mountain curve, a woman in a little red sports car tore around the bend from the opposite direction, cutting him off and forcing him to veer off the road.  To add insult to injury, as the woman sped by, she yelled, "PIG!"

Furious, the man shook his fist at her and shouted, "SOW!"  He kept going around the curve, where he ran into a pig sitting on his side of the road.

Sometimes when it appears that life is attacking us, it is trying to help us.  Those who challenge us bring us valuable life lessons that we might miss if we are caught up in feeling insulted or unappreciated.  Imagine that everyone you meet is here to assist you to go deeper in your wisdom, healing and joy.  Do not be fooled by appearances; use your higher vision until you find the gold.

Thoughts on a Half-Shell

On May 20th, 2005 my son, Gavin Hunter was introduced to this world and as my wife and I were driving home from the midwifery appointment I began to think how all of a sudden I noticed that everyone seems to have a newborn.  Thinking back a couple of years ago, my wife and I purchased a new car and it seemed everyone had the same car with the same color.  Furthermore, during my wife's pregnancy it seemed every woman was pregnant.  It's amazing that what you actually focus on, you see everywhere.  My friend Vicky says she likes to see synchronicity and meaning in everything - thus, everything has synchronicity and meaning.  My coach, Jane, gives thanks to everything as if it was a miracle, no matter how small or huge and you know, miracles happen to her all day!  So, next time you want to focus on things in your life that you don't like or don't want or patterns that just keep coming up - remember, you are putting creative thoughts and energy into your situation and the universe will constantly support your dominant thoughts.

Adjustments tap in to your stored patterns of tension and thought and allow you to learn, grow and heal yourself to a higher field of play.  Stay on your current path or make (get) an adjustment to center your life!

After Dinner Reading

We all have the healing power of unconditional love within us, but we sometimes unwisely believe that we cannot be healed. When we're ill, it's easy to listen to our fears and our attempts to put all of our efforts into tangible, physical remedies that we can see and touch. We must take a step beyond what we merely see or touch and listen to the inner wisdom of our hearts and souls as well. There is no healing force greater than unconditional love. This inner wisdom, expressing itself through gratitude and love, is the most powerful healing force there is. No condition, illness or disease exists that cannot be helped by it's pure energy.
Sickness and suffering actually function as hidden blessings because they smash our complacency concerning the fictions we have developed about our lives and force us to be present in our lives. Sometimes an injury or disease awakens our love for life. Few situations urge us to examine our life more than the possibility of our impending death. For many people, including our loved ones, the day they're diagnosed with a life threatening illness is the day they truly begin to live and appreciate life.
    An Inspiring Story:
For nearly two decades I have had the great opportunity to be friends with one of the most amazing beings in the world. His name is Morris Goodman. You may recognize his name from my book Count Your Blessings. He is the person called "The Miracle Man" who miraculously survived a deadly plane crash. Through shear determination, visualization, affirmation and inspiring action steps, Morris recovered from a coma, broken bones, and a paralyzing immobility to become one of the leading speakers in the world. His story is guaranteed to bring a tear of inspiration from your heart. Below I have listed a few of his inspiring products for you to become familiar with, purchase and absorb. I can recommend them highly. Morris is a legend. Although we may not have experienced such a plane crash in our lives, we all have had moments of definite challenge. - Dr. John DeMartini

Veterinarian warns over-vaccination can harm pets

(Undated-NBC) May 30, 2005 - If you love your pet, you take him to the vet for a checkup each year. And that usually includes a round of vaccinations.  But some animal experts say that annual vaccination could be harmful to your pet.

Mollie Mae is a playful four-year-old Basenji. But at two-years-old, Mollie Mae was covered in sores and fighting for life. Sherri Crispin is the dog's owner, "She was really dying. She was laying in her bed. She wouldn't get up. She wouldn't eat."

Sherri Crispin says the doctors were baffled by her dog's mystery illness, until they narrowed it down to a most likely cause, a severe reaction to multiple vaccines given at the rescue shelter where Sherri adopted her, "What I understand now is that can potentially overload the immune system."

Jean Dodds, a veterinarian, understands the dangers of vaccinations, "You do not need to vaccinate animals every year and it may not be safe to do so."

Immunologist and veterinarian Jean Dodds says millions of pets get booster shots every year for everything from rabies and distemper to parvo virus and lyme disease. Most suffer no ill effects, but these days, many veterinarians are taking a less is better approach, "People are often so hysterical that they put the animals to sleep because it's an acute vaccine reaction and has to be treated rapidly to have the animal recover. And then you don't vaccinate again because the next vaccine could kill the animal."

Los Angeles veterinarian Rick Palmquist says vaccines can remain effective for years, without booster shots. He did a survey of over 100,000 dogs who were vaccinated once for distemper and parvo virus. In every case, those who were tested and did not get boosters have remained healthy, "The vaccine was doing what we wanted it to do without causing increased illness from overuse."

Over-vaccination has been suspected in causing tumors in some cats and immune problems in dogs. Doctor Palmquist says if you're getting your pet vaccinated, here's a simple plan. Start with the basics like rabies, distemper, and parvo virus, and then consult with your vet.

Pet owners who say they've seen the results of one shot too many couldn't agree more.

You also need to be aware of local pet laws when considering whether or not to have your pet vaccinated yearly.

Doctor Palmquist says that German shepherds, rottweilers, and poodles seem to be at higher risk for adverse vaccine reactions. If you're concerned. Talk it over with your vet.

Both my dogs have had adverse reactions to vaccines.  One of my dogs, a Toy Fox Terrier, weighs about 7 lbs and was given the same amount of vaccine that a Doberman or Great Dane would receive.  After the vaccine my poor dog sat huddled, quivering in a corner for nearly 3 days and if we touched him he would yelp like someone was stabbing him.  Let's not forget that dogs and cats have immune systems as well.  I'm not telling you or saying to not get your dog or cat vaccinated (that choice is yours), however, be smart about it!

Questions at the Café

What "normal" changes do you see occuring in YOUR body during the changing of the seasons?  For example; bears go into hibernation, animal's hair gets thicker, grass grows or goes dormant, trees loose their leaves, etc...
