Monthly Menu - October, 2004 |

Don’t pursue perfection. Drive
it. "There is nothing more
important than knowing your soul and living the truth it speaks." Menu can also be viewed at www.cafeportmoody.com This Month's Specials:
This morning the universe presented to me an opportunity to speak to a class of people going into the field of care for special needs children. These women were amazing and I was truly blessed by their understanding of life and their willingness to open to new and not so new ideas. Three days earlier Corrine stepped into the Café of Life asking if I could talk to her class about my understandings of Life, Health & Healing. She also mentioned the presentation would be three days from now, Friday morning! I jumped at the opportunity (although it meant adjusting at the Café would begin around 11 am on Friday) to speak to a group of people who will be impacting our children. I could've balked at the idea - too soon, not enough time to prepare, the Café opens at 9 am, etc. Instead, I saw it as an opportunity to share with people my truths and ideas. In my mind, I was adjusting everyone in that classroom (remember, you don't have to hear a crack, click or pop for change to occur!) and some even felt and looked different after the talk. Consequently, I feel incredibly alive, my Fridays are always great but this one has truly fed my soul! Thank you to the students (if I could remember your names I would insert them here) and to Lisa, the instructor, for allowing me to come play - you all blessed my day!
How many times in your life has the universe presented you an opportunity and you "hem & hawed" (Who Moved My Cheese) about whether or not to do it. Next time the universe provides you an opportunity, take it and see it feeds your soul!
Can God make a hotdog so hot he can't eat it? - Homer J. Simpson Same question, different person asking it. Why do people typically "catch a
cold" during transition from one season to another and not the middle of the
season? · October 4th - Office Open 9-1pm, Closed for the evening for Dr. Demartini in Seattle 8pm - 10pm · October 11th - Office Closed (Thanksgiving) · November 5th & 8th - Office Closed (Advanced B.G.I. training - that's what I do!)
The Spiritual Cinema Circle - The SPIRITUAL CINEMA CIRCLE offers a service that's unique and deeply needed. The CIRCLE gives you a way to bring hours of inspiring entertainment into your life each month. Too often we are bombarded by pointless movies, leaving us un-inspired and looking for more. Here is your opportunity to be inner-tained on a monthly basis!
After Dinner The Harry Potter film Prisoner of
Azkaban depicts a group of young wizards-in-training standing before an
imposing box imprisoning a writhing, growling monster. “This is the Boggart
Box,” Professor Lupin informs the quaking students. “It contains whatever you
are most afraid of.” The students' eyes bulge in horror. “In a moment, each of
you will approach the Boggart Box, and I will release your personal boggart.
Your defense against your boggart is as follows: Point your wand at the
boggart and declare with conviction, ‘Ridiculous!' At that point the boggart
will transform into something friendly. Then you will all laugh and the
boggart will disappear."
All of these dramatizations
symbolize the truth that our mind and spirit are stronger and greater than any
external force that attempts to intimidate us. This month, and every month, if
you begin to let fear get the best of you, point your clear mind toward it and
call it ridiculous. A Course in Miracles tells us, "You can indeed afford to
laugh at fear." No spook or goblin is bigger than your power to love. For
every demon you banish with laughter, your world becomes a lighter and freer
place.
By now you may have heard this weeks stunning announcement that the arthritis
drug Vioxx is being pulled from the market worldwide. Merck - the maker of
Vioxx - made the move after results of a long-term trial demonstrated that
users of the drug may have a sharply increased risk of heart attack and
stroke. Show me a drug that does not have a negative effect on the body and I'll start believing in them. One medical doctor stated, "if we took all the drugs and threw them away into the sea, it would be good for humanity and bad for the fishes." I am not telling anyone to stop taking drugs, only to look deeper into them and see if the positives out-weigh the negatives. With today's health issues and the demands by the public and media, pharmaceutical companies are rushing out an unheralded amount of new drugs every year with the research only being paid for if the drug passes the FDA.
What are you grateful for today? Share that gratitude with someone significant in your life.
