Inspiration Soup

The past couple of months I have read some amazing books; Richard Bach - One, Richard Back - Illusions, Stephen Hawking - The Theory of Everything and currently - Robin S. Sharma's - The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari.  I am also reading a daily book called A Deep Breath of Life by Alan Cohen, its an amazing thing to read first thing in the morning.  Also, my life coach and business coach was in town two weekends ago and I have to tell you, my soul evolved about 5 lifetimes after spending time with her.  Dr. Demartini told me during lunch one day, "if you stick your hand in a pot of honey, the honey sticks to your hand."  His point being, if we hang out with people who are negative or pessimistic or depressed or dis-eased or bitter, we tend to gravitate towards these states.  However, if we surround ourselves with genius, health, life, optimism, creativity, we elevate ourselves.  Who do you want to hang out with/who do you want to become?  I stopped reading the newspaper and watching the news several years ago, mainly because of all the negativity and crap being fed to me.  Imagine what your sleep or day would be like if you didn't start it out or end it reading about death, destruction, famine, or some horrible act of violence.  Occasionally, I will read the sports section because, as Wilt Chamberlain said, "I would rather skip straight to the sports section, because man's triumphs are more inspiring than his disasters".  Remember, that what you focus on is what you become!

After Dinner Reading

THE LAW OF TRUST
by Dr. John F. Demartini
The Law of Association-or Interaction! You have heard that "Birds of a feather flock together" and "If you associate with turkeys, you end up gobbling away your life!" Think about this. In your spiritual life, the people with whom you associate have a major influence on the way you view life. I make this an objective in my own life.
I made a list of all the religious teachings and philosophical teachings and spiritual teachings on the planet. I found a book that had three thousand religious teachings and different belief systems. I made it a priority to go through and read something on every single one of them. Then I made it a goal to travel to as many cultures as I could, and meet as many different belief systems and philosophies as I could. I believe that we are here to grow in tolerance, not intolerance. If we grow and appreciate people from all walks of life, we become global beings! If we associate with people from all over the world, we become world-wise. If we associate with people with all types of spiritual beliefs, we grow not only spiritually and gracefully, we become more tolerant. It was Will Durant who said that the greatest of religions is the most tolerant. I say that if we associate with people from everywhere, and not just limited areas, we become more spiritual beings.
Pick out great spiritual teachers and associate with them. I am amazed. You might not think this, but you can actually call them on the phone, and they will talk to you. I remember, years ago, I was studying Nobel Prize winners because they inspired me, and I wanted to learn about the Nobel Prize. I called two Nobel Prize winners on the phone, and I was able to personally talk to them. Recently, I was in Nepal and Tibet. As I was trekking through the mountains of the Himalayas, we went almost to the base camp of Mount Everest, and from there we traveled down into Nepal. In Nepal, I happened to meet the Bonpa Lama, who is a major leader of a world organization, a world religion. I had a forty-five minute philosophical discussion with him, about love and gratitude in this world today. Simply because I had the opportunity and the vision to meet spiritual beings! Make it a goal to see if you can make a list of all the spiritual beings you would love to meet! All the spiritual philosophies you would love to study! All the ideas that would awaken your spiritual appreciation! Go and fill your life with those people. Perhaps you do not have the wealth accumulated so that you can go jet setting around meeting these people. Look them up on the Internet, or read the books of their lives. Support them in that way. The more you fill your mind with great spiritual teachings, the more of a spiritual master you become.
What else is there in life than to live by our soul's guidance? The greatest teacher, the greatest "guru," is your own soul. If we go into our own heart and we start to appreciate, we open our heart and live the Law of Association and Interaction in ways we never imagined! Follow this. Associate with people of wisdom and grace. Fill your life with spiritually minded people.

News & Views

With more and more people seeking out alternative ways of healing, I thought I'd put in my two cents about it.  First, there is no such thing as alternative healing.  Healing comes from YOU, YOUR body.  Healing does not come from medicine, drugs or anything else outside your body.  So, if healing can only come from you (your Life Force/Spirit), than there are no alternatives.  Funny how western medicine has labeled such ancient arts like Acupuncture, Homeopathy and Chiropractic (I consider Chiropractic ancient because its roots can be traced back to ancient Egypt and Greece) as alternative.  Many of these practices were around long before western medicine and while western medicine was blood-letting and lobotomizing people, chiropractors were adjusting - sounds like western medicine is the fringe, alternative.  Today, studies have shown more people are seeking chiropractors, massage therapists and acupuncture as a means to facilitate healing while less are trusting or seeking out the opinion of western medical doctors.

Ultimately, it comes down to philosophy and intent, allowing a facilitation for healing.  A vitalistic model (chiropractic) sees the body as perfection, only needing a reminder and reconnection with Innate Intelligence in order for healing to occur.  A mechanistic view sees the body as imperfect, always needing help and intervention for any healing to occur.  Typically, drugs are given in order to suppress the body's natural expression or parts are removed (only to find out later the problem still exists) in order for healing to occur.  I love it when people choose (knowingly or not) to trust the power, beauty and pure wisdom of the body.  Nothing man has ever created has come close to the wisdom and perfection of the human body - so, would you trust learned knowledge outside of your body or Innate Intelligence - the greatest wisdom known.
